It is a newly planned residential neighbourhood located 48 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, within the local government area of the City of Penrith. Caddens was named after Thomas John Fuller Cadden, a prominent business entrepreneur and pioneer of major developments in the Penrith area. As of the 2016 census, the population of Caddens was 1,475.
